I am at the same time connected to the router with my work laptop (xp) with a good internet connection. So there is no problem with the router (apple airport extreme 54mbps). The network is now "Unidentified" and marked as a public network. I am sure the same thing was a Home network before install of w7.

If I were Jul 15, 2016 · BUT can you take the PC next to the router and connect a cable between the PC and the router to check the cable/router port/pc port / and pc is working once we know the PC is working OK on a LAN connection - we an then look into the homehubs and other cable otherwise we are unsure if its the PC or homehub OR The network now shows up as "unidentified" and the troubleshooter says "Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration". I've checked all the network/adapter settings and can't see anything wrong.

Feb 19, 2012 · In the Network and Sharing Center the only red X is on the top where it says My computer -----> unidentified network -----> Internet, there's an X on the arrow in between network and internet. All the computers on the network are using the same workgroup. I set up my new modem and router today, and got them working. But now on my windows 7 desktop, under network management I have my router network, and underneath that it says unidentified network that is public. If I unplug my Ethernet cable from the router that connects to my computer it disappears. But when I reconnect it it appears.
